Turriga by Argiolas is a legendary red, a symbol of Sardinia, able, like few other bottles, to photograph the beauty and richness of the land of Cagliari and faithfully immortalize it inside the bottle. It comes from the selection of the best bunches of the homonymous estate, located in Selegas. It is conceived exclusively from native grapes, mainly Cannonau with a hint of Carignano, Bovale and Malvasia Nera, from old vines that rest on calcareous soil, rich in stones and pebbles. At about 230 meters above sea level, where the sea breezes lull the vines and the Mediterranean sun guarantees perfect ripening of the bunch. The grapes are harvested by hand between October and November and gently transported to the cellar where a careful and decisive selection is made. The grape juice obtained ferments in steel containers and macerates on its skins for a period of between 16 and 18 months. The aging ends in new French oak barrels where it remains for almost 24 months before resting another year in the bottle.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red, the nose expresses elegant notes of currant, plums, tobacco and leather, sweet spices. A toasted trace opens to a taste of great structure, balanced, fine and persistent, concentrated, warm, whose finish fades into tones of licorice.
