In the province of Piceno, the cultivation of vines dates back to ancient times, even prior to the Roman conquest. It is here that Pecorino is best expressed, with the Falerio DOC, which together with Passerina and Trebbiano boasts the same centuries-old history; a vine of ancient tradition with strong Marche origins. Even the legends that tell the origin of its name are lost in history. There are those who claim either a grape that the sheep were fond of during the transhumance period or that the shape of its cluster (more elongated in the center) reminds one of the head of a sheep.
Tasting Notes
Deep straw yellow, it expresses sensations of fruit and white flowers, acacia and broom on the nose. In the mouth it develops in balance with freshness and flavor, fine, persistent with a typically almond finish.
Pairings
Perfect with seafood and shellfish, fish-based first courses, white meats and with the classic Ascolana olives.
