The objective of the Bastianich winery is to absorb the history and culture of the area, creating unique wines that narrate the place but which, at the same time, demonstrate to stand out for their body, structure and balance. The vineyards are cultivated with effort and dedication, in full respect of the rhythms of nature. The cultivation practices in the vineyard are aimed at preserving as much as possible the vine and the soil on which it is planted and also the harvest is totally manual.
Born as an expression in red of its equally illustrious "colleague", the Vespa Rosso sees the light on the basis of the classic composition of the Bordeaux blend, implemented however with the grafting of a native grape variety (Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso). This international connotation, however, will be mitigated and reduced starting from the 2013 harvest in which the Schioppettino will supplant Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (thus weighing for 20% on the total composition).
Tasting Notes
At sight it gives a very bright, full and brilliant ruby red color, while on the nose the sweetness of blackberry and morello cherry cover the vegetal notes typical of Cabernets, constantly demonstrating an incredible maturity of pulp and an extraction out of the ordinary. In the mouth the tannins appear incredibly sweet and balanced, in perfect harmony with the acid and alcoholic parts. Its finish is excellent, intense, long and persistent.
Pairings
Wine particularly suitable for grilled meat and medium-aged cheeses, it expresses itself equally well with fish soups and spicy and structured preparations.
