Franciacorta

The Franciacorta DOCG represents a milestone for the territory making the term Franciacorta the designation of the wine and its processing method. The denomination includes the following types of wine refermented in the bottle with the classic method: Franciacorta DOCG, Franciacorta DOCG Satèn, Franciacorta DOCG rosé, Franciacorta DOCG vintage, Franciacorta DOCG reserve.

The grape varieties allowed for the production of the indicated types are Chardonnay, Pinot nero and Pinot bianco. The rosé must contain at least 25% of Pinot Noir, while the Satèn must be vinified exclusively from white berried grapes. For the elaboration of the vintage, at least 85% grapes must be used from the vintage indicated on the label. The minimum aging period on the lees is 18 months for the basic version, 24 months for the Rosé and Satèn, 30 months for the vintage and 60 months for the reserves.

The formats allowed for the bottles range from a minimum of 0.185 to a maximum of 15 liters. From the point of view of the sugar content, the following types are allowed: zero dosage, extra brut, brut, extra dry, sec and demi-sec. For the “Satèn” typology, only the brut version is available. The Satèn is characterized by an overpressure of CO2 less than 5 atmospheres, to emphasize the creaminess of the product.
