It rarely happens that the origins of a wine can be traced back to a single man. Brunello di Montalcino, however, owes its existence to the inventiveness of Clemente Santi and his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi who in 900 began to make pure Sangiovese Grosso in Montalcino.
Since 1888, the first Brunello vintage in history, Biondi-Santi has continued to produce wines renowned for their elegance and extraordinary longevity. No compromise. Careful attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship accompany the Brunello Biondi Santi which is produced with hand-selected grapes from the proprietary vineyards. In the cellar it is fermented in concrete vats with the use of indigenous yeasts and it ages in large Slavonian oak barrels, as tradition dictates.
THE 2015 VINTAGE - A majestic vintage where structure, elegance and freshness combine to create something special. 2015 was a hot and little rainy year with high temperatures from May to August, which allowed the vine to reach excellent ripeness, giving perfect grapes for wines of the highest class. The beginning of the collection is dated 21 September.
THE ORIGIN - The 2015 Brunello was produced from a selection of Sangiovese Grosso coming from its own vineyards.
AGING - The 2015 Brunello was aged for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels.
Bright ruby chalice. On the nose, a complex and elegant bouquet and a profile that expands and changes minute by minute. First nose chiseled with delicate flowers and sweet spices, followed by a light fruit, a touch of ginger and a hint of verbena and mint. The mineral voice and the tobacco notes at the end are surprising. The taste has class and tension: classic, aristocratic, it is both graceful and austere. Three-dimensional mouth, which develops with progression, maintaining an unmistakable elegance and personality.
A wine for special occasions, Biondi Santi's Brunello di Montalcino goes splendidly with refined meat-based preparations, including roast. Impossible not to enjoy it even at the end of a meal, alone.
