Ancient, majestic and dominant. A stronghold full of charm and history, south-west of Montalcino, Tenuta CastelGiocondo is located at an altitude of about 300 meters, an ideal terroir for the production of Sangiovese.
Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino presents the typical characteristics of Sangiovese, grown in this area, in a youthfully disengaged version. The deep soils on which these vineyards are grown help to give rise to fragrant and elegant wines with a light and delicate tannic texture.
Tasting Notes
It has an intense and brilliant ruby red color with slight purple hues. The nose is articulated in a succession of floral and fruity notes. The initial hint of violet gives way to hints of small red and black berries, finally elegant spicy hints of white pepper and star anise arrive. The elegant balsamic finish concludes the olfactory tale. In the mouth the tannic texture is evident but without excesses. The finish is long with a distinct fruity and floral aftertaste.
Pairings
Throughout the meal, it goes well with egg pasta dishes such as pappardelle topped with hare, wild boar and red meat sauce, from steak to stew.
