Obtained from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes coming only from plots classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, this great vintage signed by Pol Roger is produced in very limited quantities and only in vintages considered excellent, those vintages in which both grapes have reached perfect ripeness. 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, which is the traditional recipe of the Maison, the Vintage ages for at least eight years on the lees, a period of time that gives it class and longevity, precision and pride. A Champagne that embodies all the Pol Roger style: not surprisingly, it was the Vintage that made Churchill fall in love with the Maison at the time.
Tasting Notes
Very bright golden yellow, with dense and continuous perlage, it has a very fine nose that opens into a fruity range of blackberries, plums and a touch of pineapple, then touching notes of brioche and cream, all enriched by a subtle and fresh vein mineral. A champion taste that combines power with delicacy, it is dry and delicately savory, with a long citrus persistence. Undoubtedly in due time, it will have a return in the long run, if you have the patience to wait for it a few years.
Pairings
Extremely versatile, it goes well with a platter of cold cuts and cheeses but also a warm seafood salad, fish carpaccio and first courses with shellfish.
