The desire to express the exceptional qualities of the estate has been the basis of Ornellaia's philosophy from the very beginning. Ornellaia is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, a faithful expression of a unique terroir that has always been in harmony with nature.
Wine symbol of the Estate, this Bolgheri Superiore represents an enological masterpiece, it tells the broader essence of that grandiose territory, on the Tuscan coast, where the Bordeaux grapes are able to express themselves at levels unique for Italy. All the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand after an analysis phase which aims to accurately assess the ripeness and balance of the individual components of the grape. The vinification continues separately according to the grape variety: first there is a phase in steel tanks, which is followed by a passage in oak barrels for at least a year, at the end of which the cuvée is created.
The intense and dark color heralds a wine of good concentration; rich and complex nose, it releases aromas of ripe red fruits, accompanied by notes of sweet tobacco and vanilla. On the palate it reveals a very balanced Ornellaia, a combination of firmness and pleasant freshness.
It is enhanced with second courses based on game or red meats. Sublime also with refined risottos and important cheeses.
