La Grande Dame Rosé is a champagne as bold as the woman it inspires, Madame Clicquot, the famous and ambitious widow, in French “veuve”, who gave a strong boost to the quality of this appellation. A Champagne Rosé with 92% of Pinot Nero grapes and only 8% of Chardonnay. Among the vineyards of origin of the Pinot Noir we remember the Clos Colin in Bouzy, one of the oldest plots of the Veuve Clicquot domaine.
Tasting Notes
In the glass it boasts a rose gold color, crossed by slight coppery reflections. The nose unfolds opulent hints of raspberry and strawberry that are involved with complex aromas of red grapefruit, Rooibos tea and fine leather. On the palate it enters on tiptoe, with softness and a body in evidence, and then shows off its range of red and black fruits in a vigor and a youth that finds the touch of grace in smoky and dried flower scents that define one unmatched aromatic richness, on a par with the best Pinot Noirs from Champagne.
Pairings
Divine on beef and shrimp ravioli, it goes very well with lamb dishes or stuffed tomatoes.
