A splendid symbol, perhaps the emblem, but certainly an icon of Guatemala: Ron Zacapa 23 Gran Solera is, among the aged rums, an absolute masterpiece, among the best rums in the world. It comes from a blend of young rums and rums aged between 6 and 23 years and refines according to a new aging system: the dynamic Solera.
A system, invented in Spain more than five centuries ago, which involves the use of burnt oak barrels that previously contained bourbon, Sherry or Port, which give the distillate a soft and complex aroma with hints of ripe fruit and spicy notes of walnut muscat, cocoa and licorice. Impossible not to recognize that particular slightly sugary aftertaste of virgin honey.
Tasting Notes
At sight, deep amber color. On the nose, complex bouquet of exotic fruit, dried figs and ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, with a nice hint of Chantilly cream. In the mouth, the sip is rich, persistent and soft. It spreads with elegance on elegant notes of spices and sensations given by the wood.
Pairings
Excellent after dinner, Zacapa 23 Gran Solera fully expresses its personality when paired with a good cigar and dark chocolate.
