The desire to try their hand at a grape never used before, Merlot, the desire to offer the consumer a product that could be appreciated younger and, finally, the opportunity to be able to further select the grapes to be used for Sassicaia. These are the three main reasons that led Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta, Mario's son, to create a second wine.
Guidalberto is therefore considered the younger brother of Sassicaia, not for a lower quality but for a different drinkability compared to the flagship wine of the Bolgheri winery. It takes its name from Nicolò's great-grandfather, Guidalberto della Gherardesca, and is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, in pure Bordeaux style.
